Modify an existing pattern (or patterns) to stitch just up to and not beyond a boundary line
VIDEO | Fill Inside & Fill Outside
Fill Inside and Fill Outside modify an existing pattern, by using only the section of the pattern that exists inside, outside or between two boundaries. It also automatically sets the sewing status as ‘unsewn’. Background fill patterns are good candidates for this feature, where one boundary is the outer edge of a block, and the other boundary surrounds the detail that will not be stitched on, like an appliqué. Fill modifies the pattern so that the pattern will continue to stitch along the edge of the boundary rather than have a jump stitch. To use Fill, select the pattern and right-click or select Fill icon and chose inside or outside.
Fill feature will never make jump stitches in a pattern it creates. No matter the number of patterns used to create the fill, the resulting pattern will always stitch continuously around a boundary to reach the next section of the new pattern. Care must be taken to not create a design that overstitches a boundary line multiple times. It's always a good idea to do a Virtual Stitchout and watch the stitching path of a newly created fill before stitching it on the quilt.
