Cleaning Your Machine-Daily (with regular use)
• Clean the bobbin area with every bobbin change. A soft paintbrush works very well for this. You can also use compressed air.
• Don’t forget to check your bobbin case for lint at every bobbin change. Check under and around the anti-backlash spring.
• Wipe your tracks and all wheels with a piece of cotton batting.
• Replace your needle for each quilt. You may need to change more/less often depending on the size of the quilts and fabrics.
Machine Maintenance-Weekly
• Clean and wipe down the machine weekly or as needed.
• Clean the tracks and wheels weekly or as needed. Clorox wipes or alcohol will remove oily residue so they stay cleaner, longer.
• Check encoders for threads and lint. Clean as needed.
• Check the bobbin case tension spring. Occasionally, run a thin pin or corner of a business card under the spring to pull out any lint.
Machine Maintenance-Quarterly
• Inspect o-rings for cracks. Replace if needed.
• Inspect the check spring for grooves. Replace if needed.
• Inspect the anti-backlash spring. Replace if needed.
• Remove the needle plate to clean underneath.
• Inspect belt pulleys for thread and lint and clean them as needed.
Machine Maintenance-Annually
• “Floss to Test” thread guides and needle plate for burrs that would catch or fray thread.
• Change Rotary Check Spring Assembly felt washers if dirty.
• Remove covers to thoroughly inspect belts and pulleys.
• Check mechanical adjustments if you are experiencing problems.
In-home maintenance visits are recommended every five years or 500 quilts, whichever comes first.
