Thread Break or Bobbin Run Out

Learn what to do when a thread break is detected or the bobbin runs out

False Thread Break

Auto Restart is triggered when the top thread breaks.  If the top thread is NOT broken and the bobbin has not run out, wrap the thread around the thread break sensor one more time and retry. If you experience persistent false thread breaks, adjust the thread break delay to a larger number. This will reduce the sensitivity of the thread break sensor. See the article on Troubleshooting the Thread Break Sensor for more information.

Bobbin Run Out or Thread Break

If the bobbin has run out, the machine may not stop immediately because the thread break detection happens when the top thread stops moving.  You can stop the stitcher yourself by choosing Pause on the keypad and then Cancel

If you experience a thread break or bobbin run out, rethread and replace your bobbin as needed and trim thread ends on the quilt if desired. You may wish to remove the last few stitches if they are loose. If you canceled the stitching yourself, select the Restart Quilting icon. If the stitcher detected a thread break on its own, select Auto Restart. With either method, the head will now move to the location where it stopped moving. Move the head to a new position if needed and select Use this Pt (Point). Use the Back and Fwd buttons to ensure you are in the correct spot. You may wish to move a few stitches back to overlap stitches. Once you are in the correct location, select Quilt. From here, pull up your bobbin and resume quilting.
